Els topònims estan classificats en temes com unitats administratives, construccions, poblacions, xarxa de transport, hidrografia, accidents geogràfics i llocs protegits, etc. Cada lloc anomenat té un o diversos noms geogràfics i cada nom pot tenir una o diverses pronunciacions que es estan en taules relacionades. \nEl model de dades adoptat segueix el model INSPIRE que s\u2019ha ampliat amb altra informació complementària. \nLes seves principals fonts de partida són el Mapa Topogràfic de les Illes Balears a escala 1:5000, el Nomenclàtor de Toponímia de les Illes Balears i el Nomenclàtor de Toponímia de Menorca. En el futur s\u2019incorporaran altres topònims que permetin completar aquesta base de dades.\n(ES) El Servicio del Nomenclátor Geográfico de las Islas Baleares (NGIB) ofrece la toponimia de las Islas Baleares representada mediante objetos puntuales (lugar llamado). Entre otros, contiene un campo llamado GRAFIA con la grafía del nombre geográfico perferente, también contiene otra información relevante como la fuente de los datos, la escala de referencia o el nivel de normalización. Los topónimos están clasificados en temas como unidades administrativas, construcciones, poblaciones, red de transporte, hidrografía, accidentes geográficos y sitios protegidos, etc. Cada sitio llamado tiene uno o varios nombres geográficos y cada nombre puede tener una o varias pronunciaciones que se están en tablas relacionadas.\nEl modelo de datos adoptado sigue el modelo INSPIRE que se ha ampliado con otra información complementaria. \nSus principales fuentes de partida son el Mapa Topográfico de las Islas Baleares a escala 1:5000, el Nomenclátor de Toponimia de las Islas Baleares y el Nomenclátor de Toponimia de Menorca.
